VETERANS SUPPORT GROUP

The Veterans Support Group (VSG) was formed in 2010. Lassen State Veterans Home was just being built; K9 for Warriors was still in their original home. VSG provided funds, food, and man hours to these worthy Veterans. Currently, Barbara Wood is still coordinating our meals for K9 for Warriors. We have expanded our outreach to Emergency Services and Homeless Coalition of St. Johns County and The St Augustine Veterans Council. Over the last 12 years we have supported all these Veteran services and others with thousands of dollars due to the generosity of our great community. The VSG continually researches and evaluates Veteran services in our county where we can be of service.

Previously we have had 2 main fundraising events a year: the Red, White, and Blue Luau in April and the Thanks for Giving in November. Both of these events are a dinner and dance. On Flag Day, November 11, a very meaningful Flag Retirement Ceremony is performed. The VSG is responsible for placing the Flags along North Legacy. At Christmas, the VSG organizes a Giving Tree that has been very successful.

You do not need to be a veteran to be a part of the VSG. We are always looking for new members. Our meetings are the 2nd Wednesday of the month at 4:00 pm at the clubhouse.
